member Robert F. Parker, a partner in the Merrillville, Indiana, firm of Burke Costanza & Carberry LLP, recently obtained a jury verdict for the defendant in a medical malpractice trial in Crown Point, Indiana.The case was brought by the family of a 74-year-old patient of the defendant cardiologist, who was treated with Coumadin for his atrial fibrillation, and subsequently died of an intracranial hemorrhage. The family alleged that the cardiologist failed to monitor the patient’s coagulation status properly by frequent blood tests.
