Congratulations to Robert F. Parker, partner with Burke Costanza & Carberry in Merrillville, Indiana, and John C. Trimble, partner with Lewis Wagner in Indianapolis, Indiana. They were installed as diplomats of the Indiana Defense Trial Counsel at an awards ceremony on November 20. This honor recognizes two members of the Indiana bar who, in the judgment of the officers and directors of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana (DTCI), have distinguished themselves throughout their careers through outstanding contributions in representing clients in the defense of litigation matters.

Mr. Parker is a past president of DTCI and was honored as its defense lawyer of the year in 1998. He received DRI’s Exceptional Performance Award in 2003. Last year he successfully tried two complex medical malpractice claims. He teaches pretrial skills as an adjunct professor at Valparaiso University School of Law and serves on the editorial board of the American College of Trial Lawyers quarterly publication. Mr. Parker is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.

A former DTCI president, Mr. Trimble was named its defense lawyer of the year in 1991. He was named DRI’s outstanding defense bar leader in 2000. Mr. Trimble is a former DRI board member and a past chair of DRI’s Public Policy Committee and DRI’s Judicial Task Force. He is a leading Indiana lawyer handling insurance coverage matters. He has been working with the state legislature to promote pro-defense positions, including the Wrongful Death Act and tort reform. Mr. Trimble has also earned a reputation as one of Indiana’s most sought after mediators. He will be president of the Indianapolis Bar Association in 2015.
