Robert F. Parker successfully represented a local geriatric healthcare facility in a trial in Porter Superior Court. A hospice worker came to the facility to attend to a resident, and fell at the facility’s entry, injuring her back and knee. She subsequently had surgery, including both a spinal fusion and a total knee replacement, and was totally disabled. In her lawsuit against the facility, the plaintiff claimed over $500,000 in past and future medical expenses, $350,000 in past and future lost income, and pain and suffering. The pretrial settlement demand was $1.4 million. In a four day trial, the jury deliberated only one hour before completely exonerating the facility of any fault.
