Temporary Protected Status has been extended for Syrian nationals with an existing designation for 18 months from October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2015, and the Department of Homeland Security is redesignating Syria for TPS for those continuously residing in the U.S. since June 17, 2013 for the same 18 month time period.
For individuals with existing TPS granted under the original Syria designation, the 60-day reregistration period runs from June 17, 2013 through August 16, 2013. Syrian nationals who currently do not have TPS (or an initial TPS application pending) may submit an initial application during the 180-day initial registration period that runs from June 17, 2013 through December 16, 2013.
DHS has also extended Employment Authorization Documents for F-1 nonimmigrant students from Syria from June 17, 2013 through March 31, 2015.
