Gale M. Phelps Memorial Award

Burke Costanza and Cuppy, LLP is pleased to announce that its partner, Paul A. Leonard, Jr. has been selected by the Indiana State Bar Association Section of Family and Juvenile Law Council to be the 2009 recipient of the Gale M. Phelps Memorial Award.  This is an annual award given to an attorney upon the following criteria:

  • Exceptional service to the profession:
    unsolicited mentoring to new attorneys, reaching out to other lawyers, and working with attorneys on a one-to-one basis
  • Highest level of competence/improving the profession:
    reviewing legislation and shaping family law policies, contributing to educational seminars, serving in leadership positions for legal and nonlegal organizations
  • Raising the level of professionalism and civility in domestic relations matters:
    going beyond the client’s basic needs, maintaining respect for the court system and its participants
  • High moral character

Paul A. Leonard, Jr. was Chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Section from 2001 to 2003, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and a Certified Family Law Specialist - Family Law Certification Board.  His practice is limited exclusively to family law matters.
