Todd A. Etzler ----- Horizon Bank, N.A. has appointed Todd Etzler to its Porter County Professional Advisory Board. Horizon Bank, N.A. is a subsidiary of Horizon Bancorp, a bank holding company traded on NASDAQ. It has offices in LaPorte, Porter, and Lake Counties, Indiana.

Robert F. Parker ----- obtained a defense victory in a case tried in the St. Joseph County Circuit Court, in South Bend, Indiana. He represented the owners of a residence that was leased to a tenant family. A fire at the residence resulted in the death of a wife and mother of two dependent children. The central issues in the case revolved around alleged violations of the International Property Maintenance Code relating to the number and condition of the means of egress from the residence, as well as the responsibility for two non-functioning smoke detectors.   In addition, Bob recently attended the advanced program on Complex Medicine, sponsored by the Defense Research Institute (DRI) in San Diego, CA.  The program addressed diverse topics, including long term care and treatment plans, brain and neonatal injuries, and use of expert witnesses. The DRI is the largest international bar association devoted to defending businesses, corporations, insurance companies and individuals in civil litigation.  Also, Bob attended the annual meeting of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana recently, held at Turkey Run State Park.  The two day meeting included continuing legal education presentations on healthcare liability, electronic discovery issues, and challenging testimony by adverse experts. Bob is a past president of the DTCI and currently serves on its Long Range Planning Committee.

Jon A. Schmaltz ----- was appointed to serve as a co-chair of the Valparaiso Chamber's Public Policy Committee and to serve as a member of the Chamber's Executive Committee in 2009.  At the end of this year, Jon completes his co-chairmanship of the Chamber's Leadership Engagement Committee.  Also, Jon was selected as one of 22 members of the 2009 class of the Indiana Leadership Forum.  Indiana Leadership Forum provides continuing leadership training to emerging business and community leaders throughout Indiana.

Kevin E. Steele ----- was selected to serve on the Board Oversight Committee of Opportunity Enterprises Inc.  The mission of Opportunity Enterprises Inc. is to promote self-sufficiency and life choices for challenged individuals.

Chad Melchi ----- was elected to the Boone Grove/Winfield Pop Warner Board of Directors and serves as the Board's Business Manager.  Chad also attended the two day annual meeting of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, held at Turkey Run State park.

Troy Barron ----- recently closed a $4.5M stock acquisition transaction on behalf of shareholder clients. Troy also attended a conference sponsored by the National Business Institute covering developments in Indiana Real Estate Law.
