Matthew is the Supervisor of the Commercial Services Practice Group at Burke, Costanza & Cuppy LLP. In addition to handling Consumer Lending and Regulatory Matters, such as Reg. Z and TILA, FACTA/FCRA, ECOA, Fair Lending Issues, UCC, Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act (SCRA); the Group also handles Mortgage Foreclosure in Indiana and Wisconsin, Creditor Protection in Bankruptcy Indiana and Wisconsin, Deed-in-Lieu, Eviction, REO Closings, Litigation, Class Action Litigation, Title Claims and Clearance.
In addition to the Attorneys and the American Foreclosure and Legal Network (AFN), Matthew is also an active member of the Commercial Law League of America and the National Association of Retail Collection Matthew is a member of the AFN’s Speakers Bureau, Litigation Committee, and a regular presenter on the AFN’s bi-monthly HOT TOPICS in Litigation Webinars. Matthew regularly lectures on issues impacting creditors and how to protect their rights in state and federal court.
He was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Matthew was a student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition to receiving his B.S. in Consumer Science, he lettered multiple times as a member of the wrestling team and won a national championship in Greco-Roman wrestling. Matthew received his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and started his legal practice as a creditor’s rights attorney representing banks and financial institutions in Wisconsin. Eventually he moved in-house as a corporate attorney with the LOGS Group, a national organization of foreclosure and bankruptcy attorneys. Before taking over the Commercial Services Practice Group at Burke Costanza & Cuppy LLP, Matthew was in-house counsel for Harris NA. While at Harris, Matthew provided legal advice to the bank and its affiliates regarding federal and state lending laws, regulations and various state consumer protection laws and regulations.
Matthew currently focuses his practice on general business matters along with the representation of creditors throughout Indiana and Wisconsin. While away from the office, Matthew likes to spend time with his wife Debbie, and their five children.
